The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, with the support of the Vikelaia Municipal Library of Heraklion, holds the periodic exhibition: "The Ascent: The known-unknown work of Nikos Kazantzakis". The exhibition is on display in the Foyer of the Vikelaia Library on the 2nd floor during the Library's opening hours. It will last until December 22, 2023.

As part of the exhibition, there will be free guided tours by its curators, Paraskevi Vasiliadi and Evangelos Haritopoulos. The guided tours will take place on Wednesday 29 November and Wednesday 13 December 2023 starting at 17.30. Registrations are made to info@kazantzaki.gr or to 2810 741689.

The exhibition includes a faithful copy of the manuscript of Aniforos, the until recently unknown work of the author, which is kept and exhibited in the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, as well as documents related to the writing and history of the manuscript and highlight the richness of the Museum's Collections. The exhibition was designed on the occasion of the publication of the until recently "lost" work of Nikos Kazantzakis and was presented at the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum in the period November 2022 - August 2023.

For the needs of the re-exhibition at the Vikleia Library, it was enriched with evidence that illuminates sources of the author's inspiration, such as his experience of participating in the Central Commission for the Identification of Atrocities, as well as portraits of important women in his life, such as Rachel Lipstein-Minc from which was probably inspired by the character of Noemi in Aniforos.
